This piece is a slab constructed pot, once the clay is approaching its leather hard stage I lay the pattern down, the piece is then bisque fired.
FIRING PROCESS: All my stoneware work is bisque fired in a electric kiln to 960 degrees. Once fired the work is sanded and washed. Glaze is then applied and re-fired to 1260 degrees depending on the glaze applied. As the work is stoneware it is all weather resistant* and if applicable suitable for the oven.
Commissions and special orders are always welcome but please allow at least 8 weeks production for stoneware work (most pieces).
*Although work is high fired and weather resistant I suggest that pieces are not left out in extreme bad weather as freezing water and soil will expand and could break the piece.
